Hanging & Setting Up
Hang your clock on a sturdy, level surface—ideally on an interior wall, away from direct sunlight and drafts. The clock must hang perfectly vertical; otherwise, the pendulum will swing unevenly or stop altogether.
THE RIGHT BEAT
Check the alignment using a level. If the ticking sounds even—tick-tock, tick-tock—the clock is “in sync.” Irregular ticking indicates that the clock is hanging crooked, which you can correct by tilting it slightly.
Winding

1-Day Movement
Wind it up every day—preferably at the same time. Pull the chains evenly and smoothly until the weights reach the top. Never pull jerkily.
8-Day Movement
Wind it once a week, using a gentle, even motion. Never let the weights drop all the way to the floor—this puts unnecessary strain on the mechanism.
Cleaning & Dust
Dust is the biggest enemy of a mechanical movement. Clean the case regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use sprays, polishes, or damp cloths on the wood.
IMPORTANT
You should not clean the movement yourself. If you notice any visible dirt inside the movement, we recommend having it professionally serviced directly by us in Gütenbach.
Weights & Pendulums
The weights determine how the clock runs—handle them with care and always remove them when transporting the clock. The pendulum should not be bent or twisted; if it hangs crooked, it will noticeably affect the clock’s accuracy.
ADJUSTING THE MOVEMENT

Storage & Transportation
Before storing or transporting the clock, remove the pendulum and weights and pack them separately. Wrap the clock in a soft cloth or bubble wrap—never directly in newspaper, as the ink can damage the wood.
Always store the watch in an upright position, not lying flat.
Humidity & Temperature
Wood is a living material—and reacts to humidity and heat. Do not hang your watch near radiators, fireplaces, or in damp rooms. Extreme temperature fluctuations can cause the case to warp and affect the movement.
